Movie Scoop: Amazon Studios ‘Bliss’ Review

18

They say ignorance is Bliss and Amazon Studios’ latest release proves this to be true.

The Mike Cahill-directed film, starring Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek, is a mind-bending drama filled with alternate realities, yellow and blue stones, superpowers, and an unsettling love story.

In the film, Owen stars as Greg Whittle, an unfulfilled man whose life is spiraling because he is stuck in the sunken place of his mind.

Then, he meets Isabel (Salma), a beautiful and mysterious woman, who tries to convince him he’s living in a simulation and many of the people and things he knows are not real.

The true adventure begins when Isabel takes measures to prove to Greg what he knows to be real is nothing more than a computer simulation.

Ultimately, things go awry and Greg has to make a choice that could change his life forever.

Bliss began as a slow burn, but once it kicked into second gear, the shizznit hit the fan and my brain cells were spontaneously combusting as I tried to make sense of what I was watching.

Although there were many moments throughout the film where I had no idea what was happening, I was totally engaged and invested in the story.

I guess ignorance truly is Bliss.
