Mo’Nique has reignited her ongoing feud with Tyler Perry after his emotional tribute at Angie Stone’s funeral.
The Oscar-winning actress took to social media to share an open letter to Tyler Perry, highlighting what she sees as contradictions between his public advocacy and his private actions toward her.
In the letter, Mo’Nique directly addresses four statements made by Tyler Perry at the funeral, demanding accountability and referencing past issues—including the infamous “difficult to work with” label and a promised public apology that never came.

Mo’Nique’s Open Letter To Tyler Perry
First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Angie Stone’s family and loved ones.
Sister Angie, we stand on the shoulders of elders like you, and your fight for fairness inspires us to continue the conversation.
Dear @tylerperry,
I recently watched your heartfelt speech at Angie Stone’s funeral, where you passionately spoke about the injustices she faced in the music industry.
Your words struck me—and my husband, Sidney—but also brought to mind some unsettling contradictions in your actions toward me.
1️⃣ You condemned Angie’s mistreatment, but labeled me “difficult to work with”—despite never actually working with me. How can you advocate for fairness while perpetuating the same treatment? We have audio of you admitting you were wrong.
2️⃣ You asked, “Where’s the money she’s owed?” Well, where’s the public apology you promised me in 2016? The false narrative you fueled blackballed me, costing me tens of millions. Where’s the restitution for that?
3️⃣ You spoke about being “tired” of Black artists not getting what they deserve. Yet, you asked me to promote Precious for free—without a contract, without compensation. How does that align with your message?
4️⃣ You preached about treating “children of God” with care. As a man of faith, where is your responsibility to act with love and truth? You assured me of an apology years ago, yet it has never come.
Unlike the music industry, which you rightly criticized, we have audio documentation of your actions. Shouldn’t you be held accountable, too?
I truly hope your words at Angie Stone’s funeral inspire you to right the wrongs done to my family and me. You have the power to do so.
As you often reference scripture, let me leave you with this: “What will it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36)
We await your response.
With love and respect,
Mo’Nique & Sidney

Well I agree on both sides yes there is a time and a place for things and at the same time right is right and wrong is wrong we should all practice what we preach and as talented as Monique is and Tyler Perry is hopefully she will get that apology in a lol sincerity and the respect owed to her and maybe they can work this out and close it respectfully like adults and maybe they can work on a project together
To be honest, I watched the Angie Stone memorial services and I will say I loved what Tyler Perry said from beginning to end. But at the end of the day, Monique was just saying be a man of your word and don’t sit here speaking like your innocent at someone’s memorial service when she have proof you are not following those same words you speak on how you felt Angie Stone was treated throughout her career……. here is another black woman who was treated the same way, just in a different genre of entertainment.
Honestly, there has to be. Time when you forgive and move on even if you don’t receive the treatment or apology that you feel you’re owed. This was not about anyone other than Angie Stone in THIS moment and regardless to what TP said about Angie, it should’ve remained about Angie. I understand feeling like he’s a hypocrite and some things may have unearthed covered wounds but as an adult, at what point do you say “hey I’m beating a dead horse?” and move on?
OMG, can we move on? Geesh, holding grudges will not fix anything. This is not a good look for our kids, let alone the wannabe oppressor. Totally disrespectful to Angie’s family. This point & time was Not about you Monique. We have bigger fish to fry, our communities, our democracy, our livelihood are all in a crisis w/this admin.
