During a recent appearance on the “Geto Boys Reloaded” podcast, Mike Epps revealed it took him six months to make Richard Pryor laugh.
At the beginning of the video clip, Mike Epps talks about his experience moving to New York to pursue his dream of becoming a comedian.
His baby mama at the time was against the move because they had just had a baby girl.
I still tell my oldest daughter till this day, baby I hate that I didn’t grow up with you, but if I had not have left I wouldn’t know you now.
I wouldn’t know you now, and I wouldn’t have made it.
And she don’t understand, I can’t even trade that sh** right now, man.
I can’t explain it to her.
I agree with his daughter, I don’t understand the logic.
Shortly after the New York story, Willie D asks Mike what’s going on with the Richard Pryor movie.
Mike tells how Richard Pryor’s wife sought him out for the role, and how he sat with Richard for a year.
He then tells a funny story about how it took him 6-months to make Richard laugh.
