Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is a Houston furniture store owner who placed a $3.4 million bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl.
McIngvale placed the bet on Wednesday through the DraftKings mobile betting app.
It is one of the largest bets placed on the Super Bowl ever.
McIngvale is known for placing huge sports bets to mitigate risk on sales promotions at his furniture store.
In 2019 he bet over $11 million that the Houston Astros would defeat the Washington Nationals in the World Series. He also placed this beat with DraftKings. The Astros did not win and McIngvale loss a huge bag of money.
Personally, I think Mattress Mack is about to lose another huge bag of money.
He has a lot of faith in Tom Brady.
Tampa Bay is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and led by the greatest football player of all time in Tom Brady, so I’m betting big on the Bucs who have overcome tough matchups throughout this postseason.
In order for McIngvale to win his bet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to beat the Kansas City Chiefs or lose by no more than 3 points.
If the Buccaneers lose by more than 3 points then McIngvale losses $3.4 million, but if the Buccaneers win then he wins $6.18 million.
I’m not sure what kind of furniture McIngvale is selling but judging by his bets business must be booming.
See news report below:
The Buccaneers are considered a huge underdog in Super Bowl LIV, with 82% of the money bet on the point spread being on the Chiefs.
We wish Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale good luck because he’s definitely going to need it.
