Kym Whitley Talks ‘Happy Gilmore 2,’ Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller & Flying Without Fear

Actress anc comedian Kym Whitley talks Happy Gilmore 2

“When Adam Calls You… You Go” – Kym Whitley Is Back For Happy Gilmore 2

Kym Whitley is outside and booked, but always makes time to share a laugh and a little wisdom. I caught up with the legendary actress and comedian to talk about her role in Happy Gilmore 2, which drops July 25 on Netflix—and baby, she brought the laughs, the gems, and the auntie-approved flight tips.

“You know, when Adam calls you, you really feel, you know, blessed and you go and do the work because you know it’s gonna be, like you said, family—a good time.”

Kym is officially part of the Happy Madison family.

“This is my second film with Happy Madison and Adam Sandler. My first one was Hubie Halloween.

So when the opportunity came to join Happy Gilmore 2, she didn’t hesitate.

“I knew, I was like, please, this the sequel. You know this gonna be huge.”

Her Role As Miss Bessie? Just Know She’s Bringing The Heat

“Bessie is a friend of Adam’s, and that’s pretty much all I can say.”

Netflix wasn’t playing when it came to keeping the surprises sealed, but Kym still gave us a peek into the vibes on set.

Lots of fun!

“They kept making me swing the golf club. I was like, I don’t, I don’t wanna do it!”

Behind The Scenes With Sandler, Stiller… And A Random Dog

Filming took place in Newark, and the neighborhood showed up and showed out.

“The whole neighborhood would show up… they would stand there all day and watch and just get a glimpse of us—of really Adam coming out.”

And how did Sandler handle it? With grace.

“He would walk over and talk to them… what a lovely guy.”

Oh—and a neighborhood dog became a surprise co-star.

“I was like, that’s a random dog… they’re like, ‘Hey, we gonna use your dog, put your dog in the movie.’”

Kym also spilled on working with Ben Stiller again.

“Ben Stiller is a fool… when he hits the set and he’s a particular character, he stays in that character. He makes me laugh.”

“I Can’t Stand Golf.” Same, Sis.

Kym may be starring in one of the top golf films of the year…but like me – it isn’t her ministry.

When asked if she likes Top Golf, Kym shared:

“I think I hit two balls and I sat down and said, ‘Where the drinks and the snacks?’”

As for putt putt? That gets a little more love.

“Putt putt hit different. That’s a totally different sport—just similar utensils.”

Kym’s Real Happy Place? 30,000 Feet In The Air

“Even though I don’t do it much, I find peace on the airplane. Nobody can really call you, nobody can bother you.”

While some of us stress just thinking about turbulence, Kym’s got tips that changed my whole perspective.

“When there’s turbulence, you move with the turbulence… you dance. You won’t feel it. It takes the anxiety down.”

She’s not here for flight gummies, though.

“Take a gummy if you want to and get on the plane—see what happens. You’ll be seeing gremlins on the wing like The Twilight Zone.

Instead, she swears by Bonine. “It’s chewable. It tastes good. Non-drowsy. I was out whale watching for six hours. I keep it in my purse.”

Oh—and this gem right here?

“When the plane slows down, don’t be scared. The faster the plane goes, the more turbulence. They slow it down to make it smoother. Boom!”

“Two Funny Mamas” Still Holding It Down

Before we wrapped, Kym shouted out her hit YouTube show with Sherri Shepherd.

“Make sure everybody follows me on my social media… and Two Funny Mamas is still going strong with me and Sherri Shepherd. Subscribe to Two Funny Mamas on YouTube. Please hit that subscribe button.”
