Kenneth Petty is taking legal action to have his name removed from New York’s sex offender registry.
Nicki Minaj’s husband has filed a lawsuit against the state and the Criminal Justice Services division claiming he never received notice of an October 2004 hearing because he was incarcerated.
The hearing offered an opportunity for Kenny to challenge the rest level assigned to him. Because he missed this hearing due to his incarceration and lack of notification, he was categorized as a level 2 sex offender.
Kenneth Petty claims the notice was mailed to the wrong address and whoever received it, signed his name to the response and noted that he would not be attending the hearing.
The lawsuit claims Kenny never got his constitutional right to due process to challenge the risk level assigned to him.
As a result, Kenny says he’s suffered financial loss, humiliation, and he was arrested last year for failing to register as a sex offender in California.
He is hoping the lawsuit will get his name removed from the sex offender registry.
