Kelly Price Fires Back At Online Criticism

Kelly Price had time today.

The Grammy-nominated singer jumped on Instagram with her bonnet on and unleashed a fiery response to the people criticizing her looks after her most recent performance.

The comments were not about her vocals or stage presence, they targeted her outfit, her body, and even her feet.

Things got so ugly that she turned off the comments completely.

But instead of staying quiet, Kelly Price decided to speak her truth and let the trolls have it.

“I’m Still Gonna Be Making My Money”

In her video, Kelly reminded critics that no amount of online chatter could slow her down.

I’m letting you have it right now ’cause ain’t nothing you can do about that.

And while you looking for a new job, I’m still gonna be selling out theaters and venues looking like a fat slob in clothes that you said that I look nasty in.

And my feet are so damn big and who dressed me?

I’m still gonna be making my money.

Her message was clear: she’s thriving regardless of what people say about her appearance.

Kelly Calls Out Black Women Specifically

Kelly Price did not mince words when addressing the source of many of the comments.

I’m so sick of Black people and their bulls**t.

I’m saying what I want to say.

If you got a problem with what I’m saying and you know, Lord, pray for me.

‘Cause I’m not there yet.

Black women, you are some of the most nasty, disrespectful people.

She took aim at what she sees as hypocrisy, women who label themselves as activists and educated while tearing down others online.

“A Degree Does Not Give You Class”

In another moment, Kelly Price reminded her critics that social media cruelty does not equal power:

Find yourself ’cause a degree does not give you class.

Find yourself ’cause a degree ain’t gonna get your stupid ass into heaven.

She doubled down on the idea that being a “keyboard thug” online does not add value to anyone’s life.

One person responded to Kelly Price writing:

You do know that the main people that purchase your music and go to your shows are BLACK WOMEN?

You do know that black women are not DEI hires because they are the most educated women in the world.

You do know, your voice can be taken away from you but their education and experience can’t?

Pls do better and think before you talk.

If you have an issue with a specific person or persons, direct your anger at specifically at them.

Also, did you forget you are who you speak of? A black woman?

After cussing everyone out, Kelly challenged fans and followers alike to think about how words can wound, even when aimed at someone with decades of success.

Love her approach or not, Kelly Price’s message is a reminder that public figures feel the sting of negativity too.
