Very sad news coming out of Stanford University. Katie Meyer, team captain, and goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team was found dead in a campus residence on Wednesday (March 2).
Her cause of death has not been released at this time.
Katie was just 22-years-young.
Bernard Muir, Director of Athletics at Stanford University, released the following statement:
There are no words to express the deep sadness we feel about Katie Meyer’s passing.
Katie was an outstanding student-athlete and a beloved, passionate leader here at Stanford.
Our entire athletics community is heartbroken and Katie will be deeply missed.

In addition to being an amazing soccer player, Katie Meyer was a senior International Relations major and she had recently launched her very own talk show titled, “Be The Mentality.”
Katie was loved beyond measure and her untimely passing has left many heartbroken and shattered.
My sincerest condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with Katie’s family, friends, teammates, and all who knew and loved her dearly.
