It’s with a heavy heart that I report Alex Trebek, the iconic host of “Jeopardy,” has passed away after battling pancreatic cancer.
He was 80.
The official Twitter account for the show announced the heartbreaking news on Sunday writing:
Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex.
See the original tweet below:
In March 2019, Alex revealed he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
By May, Alex shared a hopeful update saying some of his tumors had shrunk more than 50 percent.
My sincerest condolences to the Trebek family and all who knew and loved Alex.
