In a shocking story that’s sending ripples through the music industry, a woman identified as Jane Doe has come forward with serious sexual assault allegations against rap moguls Jay-Z and Diddy.
The now 38-year-old woman, who has autism, claims she was raped by the music icons when she was just 13 years old during the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
The Accusations Against Diddy & Jay-Z
In an interview with NBC News, Jane Doe sat down to share her traumatic account of the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, describing a night she says “catastrophically” altered her life.
According to her lawsuit, the then 13-year-old snuck out hoping to meet celebrities and was allegedly taken to a “large white residence” where she claims she was sexually assaulted by Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Diddy (Sean Combs).
In her chilling account, the Jane Doe detailed the alleged assault, describing how after accepting a drink from a waitress, she began to feel disoriented.
“I started feeling funny. Tried to start looking for a place to lay down,” she told NBC News.
According to her lawsuit, she found an empty room with a bed.
Moments later, Combs, Carter, and an unidentified woman entered.
“You are ready to party!” Combs allegedly announced.
What followed, in her own words, was a traumatic assault. First, by Diddy…then, by Jay-Z.
“Jay-Z comes over, holds me down. I start trying to push away. He puts his hand over my mouth, tells me to stop it, to cut the s**t, and then he rapes me like he had me overpowered,” she recounted.
Traumatized and desperate, she managed to flee the house and ran to a nearby gas station.
“I was upset, and the person at the gas station could tell that I was obviously upset, and she let me use the phone,” she said.
She called her father, the only person she trusted at that moment, saying, “I messed up and I needed a ride home.”
The ride home was marked by an eerie silence.
“We rode home in silence. He didn’t ask me what happened. He didn’t ask me what I did or where I was,” she told NBC News, highlighting the profound emotional aftermath of the alleged incident.
Jane Doe’s Motivation
“You should always fight for what happened to you,” she said about why she is going public with her accusations now.
“You should always advocate for yourself and be a voice for yourself. You should never let what somebody else did ruin or run your life. I just hope I can give others the strength to come forward like I came forward.”

Inconsistencies Raise Questions
While the accuser remains steadfast in her allegations, her story contains several notable inconsistencies:
- Her father doesn’t recall picking her up after the alleged incident
- A celebrity she claims to have met at the party was actually out of town
- Professional images show Jay-Z and Diddy at a different location than she described
Dad Doesn’t Remember
The woman’s father said he doesn’t remember picking her up after the alleged attack, which creates doubt about a key part of her story. The drive would have been over five hours from their home.
“I feel like I would remember that, and I don’t,” he said. “I have a lot going on, but that’s something that would definitely stick in my mind.”
The father mentioned he learned about the alleged assault just this week.
He did recall once picking her up in the middle of the night, but said it was just “a local drive.”
When asked about her dad’s statement, the woman stood by her claim.
“We argue about this a lot,” she said. “There are things he said or did back in New York that he just doesn’t remember. It causes fights in our house.”
Her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, jumped in to explain, saying the father might not remember because of personal issues he was dealing with at the time.
“We’re talking about something that happened over 20 years ago,” he told NBC News.
These different memories just add more questions to an already complex and controversial lawsuit.
Benji Madden Wasn’t At The Party
The woman also told NBC News she spoke with musician Benji Madden at the after-party.
But a representative for Madden confirmed that neither Benji nor his brother Joel attended the 2000 VMAs and that they were on tour in the Midwest at that time. (The woman did not accuse the brothers of any wrongdoing.)
“Honestly, what is the clearest is what happened to me and [the] route that I took to what happened to me. Not all of the faces there are as clear,” the woman said in the Friday follow-up interview.
“So I have made some mistakes. I may have made a mistake in identifying.”
The Large White Residence
The woman couldn’t provide more details about the after-party she claimed to have attended.
Professional photos showed Jay-Z and Diddy at the Lotus nightclub during the VMAs after-party, but it’s unclear exactly when those photos were taken or if they went to any other parties.
The Lotus building, which is now closed, doesn’t look anything like the house the woman described in her lawsuit and interview.
When asked about the location, she admitted, “I didn’t know exactly where we were going or even how long it took.”
Her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, was quick to defend her story.
“We never said the location was the Lotus club,” he stated. “Our client has been specific about the venue she says she was taken to.”
He also noted they won’t guess about an “after-after party” because she simply doesn’t know.
Another unverified part of her story is how she got to New York City that night.
Her attorneys provided a name of a friend who supposedly drove her – a 20-year-old at the time.
However, that person has since passed away, making it impossible to confirm her account.
These gaps and uncertainties add more questions to an already complex allegation against Jay-Z and Diddy.
Jay-Z’s Forceful Denial
In a direct and unequivocal statement, Jay-Z vehemently rejected the allegations:
“This incident didn’t happen, and yet he filed it in court and doubled down in the press,” Carter stated, referencing the woman’s attorney, Tony Buzbee.
“True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”

Legal Responses
Both Jay-Z and Diddy vehemently deny the allegations:
- Jay-Z called the lawsuit “idiotic” and “heinous”
- Diddy’s attorneys labeled the suit a “shameful money grab”
- The woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, continues to vet her claims and says she’s willing to take a polygraph test
Jay-Z Files For Dismissal
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, is asking the court to dismiss the case and is considering disciplinary action against the lawyers who filed the complaint.
