The spell has officially been cast! HBO has announced the young stars who will lead its highly anticipated “Harry Potter” television series—a fresh, faithful adaptation of the beloved book series by J.K. Rowling.

After what the creative team described as “an extraordinary search,” screen newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been chosen to step into the iconic roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

These talented young actors may be new to the screen, but they’re already making magic behind the scenes.

Francesca Gardiner (who will serve as showrunner and executive producer) and Mark Mylod (director and executive producer) released a joint statement, saying:

After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.

The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.

We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.
