Halle Berry sold her directorial debut film “Bruised” to Netflix for $20 Million.
She wasted no time sharing her excitement via her Twitter account:
The film is about an MMA-fighter no longer in her prime looking for redemption, and Halle plays the lead actress in the film.
Co-star UFC flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko trained Halle for the role.
In an interview with Variety, Halle talked about the process of acting in and directing the film.
“I didn’t want to stop because I had prepared for so long.” Halle continued, “We had rehearsed: we were ready. So my mind, my director’s mind, was just – keep going. And I compartmentalized that, and I just kept going: I’m not going to stop. I’ve come too far. I’m going to act as if this isn’t hurting. I’m going to will myself through it. And so we did.”
The film recently premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and there is no word as of yet of an official Netflix release date.
Congratulations to Halle Berry for getting a bag and bossing up on the directorial side of the industry.
We will definitely support “Bruised” when it comes out, will you?
