🕵🏽♂️ GBI Concludes Bell Mountain Deaths Were A Double Suicide
On Wednesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that the tragic deaths of twin brothers Naazir Lewis and Qaadir Lewis have been officially ruled a double suicide.
The 19-year-old twins were found fatally shot on March 8 at the summit of Bell Mountain in Hiawassee, Georgia—over 90 miles from their home in Lawrenceville.
Investigators say both brothers fired a weapon, and digital evidence painted a timeline of their final hours together.
According to the GBI, forensic evidence showed Naazir purchased ammunition days earlier and delivered it to their home.
Cell phone location data placed the brothers at the mountain alone, with video footage further confirming there was no one else with them.
Investigators also found troubling search history on their devices, including terms related to firearm usage and 2024 suicide rates.
🧳 Abandoned Trip, Unanswered Questions
The GBI revealed that only Naazir had a plane ticket to Boston scheduled for March 7, but he never boarded the flight.
Instead, he returned home, and the next day, both he and Qaadir were found dead in a place their family says they had no known connection to.
Despite the GBI’s conclusion, those closest to the twins aren’t convinced.
💔 Family Pushes Back On Suicide Ruling
Loved ones of Naazir Lewis and Qaadir Lewis are struggling to accept the GBI’s findings, maintaining that the brothers would never harm themselves—or each other.
“They’re very protective of each other. They love each other,” their uncle Rahim Brawner told NBC affiliate WXIA.
“They’re, like, inseparable. I couldn’t imagine them hurting each other, because I’ve never seen them get into a fistfight before.”
The family quickly launched a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of hiring a private investigator who specializes in homicide to re-examine the case.
“We know them. They wouldn’t do anything like this,” said their aunt Yasmine Brawner.
“To say they did this to each other? No. Something happened in those mountains, and we want answers.”
🔒 Case Nears Closure—But Not For The Family
While the GBI plans to formally close the case in the coming weeks, the Lewis family has made it clear that they are not ready to let go.
The heartbreaking story of Naazir and Qaadir Lewis is a painful reminder that sometimes, official findings leave grieving families with even more questions than answers.
And for the people who knew these twins best, the search for truth is far from over.
I pray the family learns the truth that will bring them closure, peace…and justice, if applicable.
