The FTC is issuing $126 million in Fortnite refunds for unwanted purchases. Find out if you’re eligible and how to claim your payment.
🎮 Fortnite Refunds Are Back—And Bigger Than Ever
If you or your child made an accidental or unwanted purchase while playing Fortnite, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has some good news for you.
The agency just announced it’s sending out another round of refunds—this time totaling over $126 million—to Fortnite players impacted by Epic Games’ deceptive billing practices.
💸 Why Is The FTC Sending Fortnite Refunds?
In 2023, Fortnite developer Epic Games agreed to a $245 million settlement with the FTC after the agency accused them of using “dark patterns”—sneaky design tactics that tricked users into making unwanted purchases.
From in-game upgrades to V-Bucks and emotes, players (especially kids) were racking up charges without clearly understanding what they were buying—or that they were buying anything at all.
The FTC stepped in, and now those impacted are getting some much-needed compensation.
📅 Key Dates & What’s New in 2025
- June 25 & 26, 2025: The FTC is sending out 969,173 payments (checks and PayPal) to consumers who already submitted valid claims.
- Deadline Extension: If you haven’t submitted a claim yet, you now have until July 9, 2025, to do so. Visit www.ftc.gov/fortnite to file your claim.
This new round of refunds brings the total payout to nearly $200 million.
In a previous batch sent in December 2024, the FTC issued over $72 million to more than 629,000 Fortnite players.
🧾 How to Get Your Money
Consumers were asked to choose their preferred payment method when submitting their claim:
- Check Recipients: Must deposit or cash checks within 90 days (expiration date is printed on the check).
- PayPal Recipients: Have 30 days to accept the payment before it expires.
Still waiting or confused about your payment? Contact the refund administrator, Rust Consulting, Inc., at 1-833-915-0880 or email admin@fortniterefund.com.
🚨 Important Reminder: The FTC will never ask for money or sensitive account info to issue your refund.
If someone does—it’s a scam.
