Jacob Blake, the 29-year-old Black man who was shot in the back multiple times by Kenosha police, is paralyzed from the waist down, according to his father.
Eye witnesses said Jacob had just broken up a fight between two women when the police arrived.
When Jacob tried to enter his vehicle, an officer grabbed him by the back of his shirt and fired multiple shots into his back at pointblank range.
What justified all those shots?” his father said. “What justified doing that in front of my grandsons? What are we doing?”
What’s even more heartbreaking is Jacob Blake’s girlfriend and their three children were in the backseat of the car at the time of the shooting.
Jacob’s father is making his way from Charlotte, North Carolina to Wisconsin to be with his son.
I want to put my hand on my son’s cheek and kiss him on his forehead, and then I’ll be OK. I’ll kiss him with my mask. The first thing I want to do is touch my son.
Protests erupted on Sunday following the shooting with peaceful and vengeful protestors taking to the streets of Kenosha.
Jacob’s father says the police officers who shot his son are the ones to blame for the outrage and destruction in the city.
Those police officers that shot my son like a dog in the street are responsible for everything that has happened in the city of Kenosha. My son is not responsible for it. My son didn’t have a weapon. He didn’t have a gun.
Civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump is representing Jacob Blake and his family.
Please keep Jacob Blake and his family uplifted in prayer.
