R&B singer Faith Evans recently shared a heartfelt tribute to Ms. Voletta Wallace, the mother of the legendary rapper Notorious B.I.G., following her passing on February 21, 2025.
Voletta Wallace, who had been in hospice care, transitioned to her heavenly home at her residence in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
In a touching message posted on her Instagram, Faith Evans, who was married to Biggie from 1994 to 1997, expressed her deep admiration for the matriarch of the Wallace family.
Although words cannot truly capture the incredible impact you have had on all of us, I will always remember your strength, effortless grace, and your commitment to protecting BIG’s legacy.
May your spirit live on in the lives you’ve touched, and your wisdom continue to be a lesson to us all.
Take your well-deserved rest, Ms. Wallace, with BIG once again by your side—until we meet again. 🕊️🕊️

Alongside Faith Evans, CJ Wallace, the son of Notorious B.I.G. and Voletta’s grandson, also took to social media to share an emotional tribute to his late grandmother.
In his message, CJ reflected on his relationship with Voletta and the strength she had shown throughout her life:
You prepared me for this moment more than you know. It’s crazy to think during our last conversation, you barely brought up your health.
You never wanted me to worry, and I always wondered why you did that. They don’t make ‘em like you anymore. The most gentle gangster ever created.
How can one have so much grace yet be so stern? You carried this family for a long time. You can rest easy knowing you did more than enough.
CJ continued:
I wish I would’ve called more. I wish I would’ve asked more questions. But it puts my mind at ease to know you are no longer in pain. Love you, Mema 🤍🧶🕊️

Ms. Voletta Wallace, who was predeceased by her son, Christopher Wallace (Notorious B.I.G.), who was tragically shot in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, will always be remembered for her profound influence on the family and her efforts to preserve Biggie’s legacy.
I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Voletta many years ago during a charity event in Atlanta, where she encouraged children to read more books.
She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.
She embraced my children, who were small at the time, with a hug and a kiss. She even invited them to sit on her blanket and took a photo with them.
May she rest in paradise. 🕊️
