📝 A Whirlwind Romance Ends In Divorce

It’s officially over between Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani.

The former NBA star and the “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” alum are calling it quits just six months after tying the knot.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Luciani, whose real name is Amber Rose Howard, filed for divorce on July 1, describing the marriage as “irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for reconciliation.”

One day later, a mutual restraining order was filed in court—adding another twist to an already headline-making split.

💍 From Surprise Engagement To Private Wedding

The relationship between Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani wasn’t public until December 2024, when Luciani posted (and later deleted) a video showing off her engagement ring.

In the caption, she gushed over Howard, writing, “I’m just thankful, happy and ready for everything that’s coming our way.”

Just weeks later, on January 11, 2025, the couple got married in a low-key ceremony.

Though they never confirmed it publicly, fans quickly caught on thanks to Instagram posts and subtle captions.

Howard later shared footage from their honeymoon in Thailand and captioned a Valentine’s Day post, “When you no longer have to look for a valentine because you’re married.”

But now, the fairy tale has come to an abrupt and messy end.

👀 Amy Luciani Shuts Down Rumors About Assets & Money

As speculation swirls about the divorce—and particularly Amy’s intentions—she took to social media to clear the air in a heartfelt statement:

I plan on speaking on this one time only.

I til this day have never asked him for a single dollar. Not 30 cents. Before we married I asked to sign a prenupt. I text it right to him.

I told him I want to sign a prenupt because I believe what you worked for is yours and I’m not the type of woman to take what’s not mine. I mentioned a prenupt first!! He declined.

I do not want any of his assets! I do not want half of anything that he earned or obtained before me. Not a car, not his properties, not a business. These rumors do not align with my character. Believe it or not, some of us women really date/marry for love.

The value I add cannot be bought. I rather build the empire with you. You ever met a gold digger who went her entire relationship without asking for a penny & asked for a prenuptial agreement & doesn’t want any part of his assets when it ends—oh okay.

I won’t bother asking for privacy. This is the internet so I’ll accept the good with the bad. Right now is just a bad moment but God oversees it all and this too shall pass.

Amy made it clear she’s not seeking Dwight’s fortune—despite requesting an equal division of marital property and alimony in the official filing.

Her post is a direct response to the narrative painting her as a “gold digger,” and she’s not here for it.

🎤 Who Is Amy Luciani?

Amy rose to fame after appearing on “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” in Seasons 11 and 12.

But she didn’t just bring drama—she brought hustle.

In a 2023 interview with Hot New Hip Hop, she explained that her goal was to spotlight her rap career and behind-the-scenes work ethic.

I am not just a girl on the internet posting pretty pictures… People don’t really see the work that I’ve done.

Amy also founded a charity to support unhoused individuals in Atlanta and authored “Good Touch, Bad Touch,” a children’s book designed to help families address and prevent molestation.

🏀 Dwight Howard’s First Public Romance Since Te’a Cooper

This was Dwight Howard’s first publicly known relationship since his breakup with WNBA star Te’a Cooper in 2021.

While fans began noticing Dwight and Amy attending events together in late 2024, their relationship didn’t go fully public until the engagement reveal.

Luciani even hinted at a possible proposal in October 2024, cheekily posting, “I’m somewhere between ready to be a faithful wife or the single wild friend for the rest of my days.”

By January, she was a wife. By July, she’s filing for divorce.
