Donald Trump just remixed Laura Ingraham’s ridiculous “shut up and dribble” statement by telling LeBron James he should “focus on basketball” in the wake of his “YOU’RE NEXT” tweet.
LeBron James recently made headlines after tweeting, and later deleting, a picture of the police officer who shot and killed Ma’Khia Bryant with the caption, “YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY”. Implying that the officer should suffer the same fate as Derek Chauvin.
Lebron’s tweet ruffled a lot of feathers in the political and law enforcement arenas.
The National Fraternal Order of Police, the biggest union in the country, called the tweet “disgraceful and extremely reckless.”
U.S. Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas said, “LeBron James is inciting violence against an Ohio police officer. This is disgraceful and dangerous.”
Donald Trump chimed in on Thursday night releasing a statement through his office.
LeBron James should focus on basketball rather than presiding over the destruction of the NBA, which has just recorded the lowest television RATINGS, by far, in the long and distinguished history of the League.
His RACIST rants are divisive, nasty, insulting, and demeaning. He may be a great basketball player, but he is doing nothing to bring our Country together.
The irony is extremely layered in Trump’s statement.
LeBron James said he deleted the tweet because it was being used to create more hate.
I’m so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police. I took the tweet down because it’s being used to create more hate.
This isn’t about one officer. It’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism. I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY.
I respect LeBron for continuing to speak out on social injustice and police brutality issues.
