DJ Will is “mortified” and remorseful after going viral over a major blunder involving Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.
The New York DJ was on the ones and twos on at Richie Romero’s Wonderland on Wednesday night (May 11) when Cardi B and Offset pulled up to get their party on.
Typically, when there are huge celebrities in the building, the DJ will give them a shoutout.
For DJ Will, it was the moment he f**ked up!
He threw on “Do We Have A Problem” and yelled into his mic:
Shout out to Nicki Minaj in the muthaf**kin building! Let’s go!
Nicki, let’s f**k it up! Let’s go!
He definitely had a problem because it was Cardi B who was in the club partying and the look on Offset’s face said everything that needed to be said.
Moments later, Cardi took the mic and made her presence known saying:
What’s good? How the f**k y’all doing tonight? Are we gonna turn the f**k up?
Who is in the building tonight? ‘Cause, we want all the f**king smoke, ya heard!
Are we getting dangerous tonight?
DJ, are we getting f**king dangerous tonight?
Video clips of DJ Will’s major faux pas have gone viral.

Under normal circumstances, something like this wouldn’t be that big of an issue, but considering the bad blood between the two rap stars…it wasn’t good at all.
Later that night, Cardi took to Instagram Live and shared that she feels like the entire incident was a setup.
Motherf**kers were trying to set me up and everything.
And let me tell you something, I handle my business in real life. I don’t think y’all really knew what was going on.
I don’t think y’all understand what was going on, and when somebody tries to explain it, y’all coming sideways. And it’s, like, why?
I bet y’all didn’t know I got set up. I bet y’all not peeping that certain videos were made from professional cameras because it was all a setup.
Listen to Cardi’s thoughts here.
DJ Will took to social media on Thursday afternoon to share his side of the story and to issue a public apology to Cardi B and Offset.
According to Will, a promoter passed him a note informing him that it was Nicki Minaj in the building and that’s why he gave her a shoutout.
He said:
Last night in the club, a promoter/manager passed me along information to shout out and unknowingly I ran with it.
I never meant any disrespect to Cardi B, Offset, their family, friends, or fans in any way, shape, or form.
It was an honest mistake and I feel horrible about it.
Normally, that is something that I would never do. I always check and double-check information, but I was caught up in what I thought was a Hip Hop moment.
I accept my responsibility for what happened and send my heartfelt apologies to Cardi B and Offset.
I meant no malice. It was definitely no setup. I was simply there to rock the party, which is what I do for a living.
In that club, from the DJ booth, the view is very obstructed and I was trusting on what other people were telling me all night long about who was in the club and what was going on.
That was a big mistake – clearly!
It is definitely not the way that I want to go viral.
Again, my sincerest apologies to Cardi B and Offset.
What happened was wack on all levels and I’m pissed off that my name is a part of that.
I wish I could take it back.
