In a surprising revelation from Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering trial, it was disclosed that the hip-hop mogul once auditioned to play James Brown in the 2014 biopic Get On Up.
The coveted role eventually went to the late Chadwick Boseman, whose performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike.
The detail surfaced during the cross-examination of “Mia,” a former assistant of Combs who has accused him of rape and sexual assault.
Mia, who is testifying under a pseudonym, exchanged a series of text messages with Combs that were submitted as evidence in court.
One message dated August 2020 referenced Boseman’s death and noted Combs’ past effort to land the role of the legendary singer.
According to Mia, Combs’ audition tape was not just a simple read-through—it was a full-scale “production” that reportedly took an entire week to complete.
She told Combs she still had the tape and offered to send it to him.
🎭 Diddy’s High-Profile Audition That Didn’t Pan Out
Losing the role of James Brown in Get On Up may have stung for Combs, especially considering how transformative the performance became for Chadwick Boseman’s career.
While Boseman brought James Brown’s signature moves and dynamic energy to life, Diddy—despite his stage presence and musical legacy—missed out on what could’ve been a major acting milestone.
📲 Private Texts Revealed In Court
Beyond the James Brown revelation, additional text messages between Mia and Diddy painted a picture of a lavish but toxic work environment.
Mia recalled “magical, hilarious” moments like Mick Jagger allegedly flirting with her and a high-stakes poker night where Combs claimed he beat Leonardo DiCaprio out of $650,000.
“That Titanic motherfucker doesn’t know s**t,” he allegedly said, according to Mia’s message.
However, these highs were overshadowed by Mia’s detailed accounts of alleged abuse.
She testified that Combs repeatedly slammed her arm in a commercial-grade door, forced her to take ketamine at Burning Man, and physically assaulted her while also beating his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
⚖️ Diddy’s Legal Battle
Diddy is currently facing serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Mia, who worked for Combs for eight years, told the court she now suffers from severe PTSD.
“The highs were really high, and the lows were really low,” she said on the stand.
She also described feeling brainwashed and constantly seeking Diddy’s approval—even after leaving her position.
I tell you what – this trial is a chock full of nuts!
Diddy wanting to play James Brown is wild AF considering they both have a reputation for allegedly being abusive to women.
