🏛️ Diddy Found Guilty In Federal Trial, Faces Up To 10 Years In Prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted Wednesday of a prostitution-related offense in federal court, but acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering that could have landed him behind bars for life.

The verdict came after three days of jury deliberation in the high-profile trial that shook the music and entertainment world.

While Combs avoids a potential life sentence, the conviction still carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and may effectively end his decades-long reign as a cultural powerhouse.

⚖️ Charges Against Sean “Diddy” Combs

Diddy, 55, pleaded not guilty to multiple federal charges, including:

  • One count of racketeering conspiracy
  • Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion
  • Two counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution

Prosecutors originally included allegations of attempted arson and kidnapping as part of their racketeering theory, but dropped those claims mid-trial to streamline the case.

🧾 Inside The Prosecution’s Case

Over the seven-week trial that began in early May, prosecutors presented 34 witnesses, including two of Diddy’s former romantic partners.

The women testified that they were coerced into multi-day sex parties involving hired male sex workers—referred to as “freak-offs” or “hotel nights.”

Jurors were shown roughly 20 minutes of video footage from these events to support the government’s claims that Combs orchestrated and profited from a criminal sex enterprise.

🎤 Cassie’s Testimony & Her Attorney’s Response

A major turning point in the trial came when R&B singer Cassie, Combs’ former girlfriend, took the stand to describe their abusive 10-year relationship.

She detailed incidents of emotional manipulation, physical violence, and forced participation in degrading sexual encounters.

While Combs was acquitted of sex trafficking, Cassie’s testimony proved pivotal in the jury’s decision to convict him on the prostitution-related charge.

📣 Statement From Cassie’s Attorney

Following the verdict, Douglas H. Wigdor, Founding Partner at Wigdor LLP and Cassie’s attorney, issued a public statement:

This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.

This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023.

Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.

By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.

We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial.

She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion.

🛡️ The Defense Pushback

Diddy’s legal team admitted the artist may have been volatile and a flawed partner but vehemently denied the criminal accusations.

They characterized the events described as consensual and consistent with “swingers lifestyle” behavior, arguing that no force, fraud, or coercion was involved.

Importantly, Combs chose not to testify in his own defense.

🔓 Diddy’s Release Debated As Judge Considers Bond

Following the verdict, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, requested his client be released immediately on a $1 million bond, arguing that his family was prepared to sign and that he would return to his home at Two Star Island.

Agnifilo also proposed travel be permitted to Florida, New York, and Los Angeles.

The request prompted swift pushback from Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Comey, who opposed Combs’ release, citing federal law requiring detention after a guilty verdict unless the court finds the defendant is not a flight risk or a danger to the community.

The judge appeared surprised by the sudden proposal, asking, “Are you proposing he just walk outside now?”

The defense confirmed that was the intent.

No final decision on Combs’ release was immediately made, as the judge stated he would hear further arguments from the prosecution before ruling.

⏭️ What’s Next For Sean “Diddy” Combs?

Now convicted of a federal prostitution-related charge, Combs faces a potential 10-year prison sentence.

Whether or not he will remain free until sentencing is still being decided.

Regardless of the outcome, this conviction is expected to have a devastating impact on Combs’ public image, business ventures, and long-standing career in music, fashion, and entertainment.
