While promoting his new sitcom, “Poppa’s House,” Damon Wayans opened up about living with clubfoot on “CBS Sunday Mornings.”

The legendary comedian and actor revealed that he is in constant pain because of the birth defect.

I had operations, but still, it’s like I’m in pain.

I just walk around with like a toothache in my foot.

It’s a constant.

Clubfoot is a congenital (present at birth) condition in which a baby’s foot or feet are twisted out of shape or position.

The condition can affect one or both feet, and it typically causes the foot to point downward and inward, making walking difficult without treatment.

The exact cause of clubfoot is unclear, though it can be linked to genetic factors or developmental issues during pregnancy.

Clubfoot is treatable, often starting with nonsurgical methods like casting and stretching (Ponseti method) and, in some cases, surgery to adjust the tendons and bones.

Even after treatment, individuals might experience stiffness or pain in their feet throughout life, as Damon Wayans mentioned in his interview.

Damon went on to share how it’s shaped his humor and his outlook on life.

You learn to accept things. That’s another thing I practice. I accept everything, and I expect nothing.

This clubfoot has been a gift. You know?

My brothers say that I’m not such the dark one, but I have a darker sense of humor than the rest of the family.

Only because, you know, I was a walking joke.

The 64-year-old living legend shared that he is now content after he stopped chasing happiness.

I’ve reached an age where I’m content. I got tired of chasing ‘happy.’ Because ‘happy’ is fleeting.

There’s nothing I need except my health and well-being. And guess what?

‘Happy’ moved in next door to me.

Now, every day is just like a blessing. 10 grandkids, one great-grandkid…it’s like – life – does it get better?

It doesn’t.
