💫 Da Brat Shares Her Powerful Reaction To Beyoncé’s “Protector”
During the Atlanta stop of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour, emotions ran high—and not just for the fans in the stands. Rap icon Da Brat had a deeply personal and emotional moment during the performance of “Protector,” and now she’s sharing exactly why the song touched her soul.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Da Brat revealed how Beyoncé’s moving performance—especially when her daughter Rumi joined her and Blue Ivy onstage—brought her to tears as she thought about her own baby boy, True Legend.
💖 A Mother’s Love Takes Center Stage
“All I could do was think about protecting my son, my everything, my yiddle miracle drop,” Da Brat wrote.
The rapper explained that she became overwhelmed with emotion as she connected to the song through her role as a mother.
Trying to hold back tears in a crowd full of people, she was unexpectedly caught by a bartender who kindly handed her a napkin.
Her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, captured the moment on video—though Brat admits she was relieved when the camera cut off before the crying got uglier.
While sharing her gratitude for the unforgettable concert experience, Da Brat praised Beyoncé, calling her “thee best” and even dubbed her “our Michael Jackson.”
She also gave love to Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, for always being a light.

🥺🥺🥺 Omg this song 😢 the feelings …. when little Rumi came out to join her mom and her sister on stage, all I could do was think about protecting my son, my everything, my yiddle miracle drop, our Stanky Man @truelegendhd.
The tears would not stop. I kept sayin to myself ‘pull it together b**ch it’s too many people watching.’
Then when the bartender who was serving the best lemonade and @sirdavis blend handed me a dam napkin…I knew I was caught. (So sweet) I just could not control my emotions.
And I for dam sure didn’t know my BeauRtiful @darealbbjudy was recording me.
Ugh I’m glad she stopped cuz the cry got even uglier. I was low key embarrassed.
But I wanna thank @beyonce for thee best concert experience I’ve ever had.
And thank you momma @mstinaknowles for just being YOU. ❤️
