🚨 DWI Crash Leaves Children Injured And Mother Facing Charges

A Missouri mother, Courtney R. Brown, is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly causing a devastating multi-vehicle crash while driving under the influence—and then fleeing the scene, leaving her unbuckled and unconscious children behind.

The incident happened early Monday morning on Interstate 270 near Missouri 367, according to an arrest report obtained by PEOPLE.

⚖️ What Courtney R. Brown Is Charged With

Brown, 33, was arrested around 7 a.m. and has been hit with a laundry list of charges including:

  • Two counts of DWI with serious injury
  • Three counts of leaving the scene of an accident
  • Operating a vehicle without a valid license
  • Two counts of child endangerment

She has since posted a $100,000 bond, according to the St. Louis County Jail.

🚑 Unsecured Children Critically Hurt

According to police reports and local news outlets KSDK and Fox 2, Brown abruptly stopped in the middle of the highway, causing a motorist behind her to sideswipe her car.

That driver checked on her vehicle—only to find Brown’s two children, ages 3 and 8, lying unrestrained in the passenger seat.

A second vehicle then hit Brown’s car, which sent it careening into another oncoming vehicle.

Shockingly, Brown allegedly walked away from the crash site, ignoring orders from officers on the scene.

First responders later found her children unconscious and critically injured, sprawled across the center console.

They are currently intubated at a St. Louis hospital.

🧪 Drugs Allegedly Found In Her System

When located roughly a mile from the crash, a state trooper noted that Courtney R. Brown appeared dazed and confused, with bloodshot eyes and slow, unsteady movements.

She was taken to a hospital, where tests allegedly revealed the presence of cannabis and amphetamines in her system.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 2.
