The man and woman who assaulted a 17-year-old Sesame Place employee after he asked them to wear a mask have been sentenced to serve prison time.
Troy McCoy, 41, and his fiancée, Shakerra Bonds, 32, were convicted in July of assaulting Dillon Mays during the teen’s first week on the job.
The couple visited Sesame Place with their three children in August 2020.
At the time, a mask mandate was in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Dillon initially asked Troy to properly wear his mask over his nose and mouth, but was ignored.
Later that day, Dillion Mays was operating a ride while another worker was on break.
Troy McCoy asked to get off of the ride and yelled at Dillon.
Shakerra told Troy to step away and calm down.
But, all hell broke loose when Shakerra asked to get off of the ride.
She became angry and hit Dillion in the face. That’s when Troy returned and punched Dillion and broke his jaw.
The couple left the park after the incident and drove back home to the Bronx.
They were arrested in New York and extradited back to Pennsylvania.
Troy McCoy was convicted of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Shakerra Bonds was convicted of simple assault. She also received one year of probation.
At their sentencing, Troy received 5 to 10 years in prison, and Shakerra received 4 to 24 months.
Now, you know you can’t be cutting the fool in Big Bird’s neighborhood!
