Convicted Murderer Derek Chauvin Requests New Trial Claiming Jury Misconduct

17

Convicted murderer Derek Chauvin is requesting a new trial in the death of George Floyd claiming the verdict was tainted by jury misconduct.

Attorney Eric Nelson filed papers in Hennepin County Court on Tuesday (May 4) arguing the trial should have been moved to a different city.

He added the publicity surrounding the trial was “pervasive” and “prejudicial.”

The court abused its discretion when it failed to sequester the jury for the duration of the trial, or in the least, admonish them to avoid all media, which resulted in jury exposure to prejudicial publicity regarding the trial during the proceedings as well as jury intimidation and potential fear of retribution among jurors.

But, that’s not all. Nelson also accused prosecutors and Hennepin County District Judge Henry Cahill of depriving Chauvin of a fair trial due to “multiple errors in proceedings.”

How about this:

  1. Derek Chauvin committed murder and it was captured on video.
  2. Eric Nelson’s case was as solid as an ice cube in hell.

Stop wasting taxpayer’s dollars and send that man to jail where he belongs.
