Salt Speaks Out Against False Rumor

Cheryl “Salt” James from the iconic Hip Hop group Salt-N-Pepa had to get some straighten’n!

Over the weekend, she took to social media to shut down a wild rumor about her ex-husband, Gavin Wray.

Apparently, someone on YouTube decided to chase clicks instead of facts, spreading a messy story that claimed Salt caught her ex having an affair with another man.

The rap legend wasted no time setting the record straight.

In a video shared on her Instagram, Salt said:

Hey, y’all, just wanted to share a little something with you guys.

There’s some stuff on YouTube about my ex, basically saying that I have come out and said that he’s bisexual or caught him with a guy or something like that.

Not true. Total lie. Old face lie. There’s no truth to it at all.

Salt went on to explain that she even spoke to Gavin before posting the video to let him know she was defending him publicly.

“My ex-husband… is a straight man, and it’s not fair that people can just say anything about anybody on the internet,” she added.

Salt Calls Out Clickbait And AI Misinformation

The Salt-N-Pepa star didn’t stop there.

She also used the moment to talk about how dangerous misinformation and clickbait have become, especially in the era of AI-generated content.

“We have to be able to recognize clickbait and do real research. Social media is the wild, wild west. Now with this AI stuff, I’m like, is this real? Is that real? You gotta question everything and use our brains,” Salt said.

And honestly, she’s not wrong. Between fake AI-generated videos and made-up gossip stories, the line between truth and chaos gets blurrier every day.

Why Salt’s Response Matters

This isn’t just another celebrity clapback.

Salt’s video shines a light on how easily misinformation spreads and how harmful it can be to real people.

When lies like this start trending, they don’t just hurt reputations, they reinforce the idea that clicks matter more than truth.

Unfortunately, as Salt herself said, “A lie don’t care who tells it,” and in the age of monetized content, some folks will say anything to make a dollar.

Cheryl “Salt” James did what needed to be done, defended her name, defended her ex, and reminded everyone to think before they share.
