It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I report Cerain Baker, the son of comedian Tony Baker, was among three innocent victims killed in a horrific crash caused by drag racers.
The multi-car wreck happened late Tuesday night (August 3) around 11:50 p.m. in Burbank, California.
According to police, surveillance cameras showed a Mercedes and a Kia street racing at a very high speed, when one of the cars slammed into a Volkswagen that was making a left turn.
The Volkswagen, which was carrying four people, split into multiple pieces and caught fire.
Three of the Volkswagen’s occupants were killed and the fourth was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Police say one of the passengers was ejected.
Michael Weston, who lives nearby, told CBSLA:
They didn’t find the boy’s body in the trees for at least 15 to 20 minutes.
The victims of the crash were identified as Cerain Baker, 21, Jaiden Johnson, 20, and Natale Maghaddam, 19.
The Mercedes and the Kia involved in the race made it a little ways down the street before careening into several parked cars.
The Kia driver was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were questioned and released at the scene.
Watch the news report below.
Tony Baker has not publicly addressed his son’s passing, but his friends and fans are lifting him and his family up in prayer during this difficult time.
A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family of Jaiden Johnson by covering the costs of his final arrangements.
His aunt, Jessica Eaton, took to Twitter writing:
My nephew was killed in a car accident on Tuesday night with 2 of his friends. It’s completely devastating. There are no words.
