WNBA star Candace Parker and her wife, Anna Petrakova, welcomed their third child on May 21, 2024, and the announcement came with all the joy and charm you’d expect from the beloved athlete.
“Hartt Summitt Petrakov Parker❤️ May 21, 2024 Our Starting lineup is complete,” Candace proudly shared in an Instagram post on Monday, June 10.
The couple is already parents to 2-year-old Airr Larry and Candace’s 14-year-old daughter Lailaa.
In the heartfelt announcement, Candace Parker expressed the family’s excitement and gratitude for their newest member.
“We are so in love and grateful for our little brother. Zone defense is ummm interesting, but we are managing. Goose is ummm adjusting 🤣 but he’s doing better with his role as a vet🤣😂😂😂 (Mama is a rockstar and we love her soooo much) Thank you @aprilbellephotos for always capturing our fam!” the post continued.
Candace’s announcement was accompanied by a series of adorable family photos, showcasing intimate moments and close-ups of their new bundle of joy.
The baby’s name, Hartt Summitt, appears to be a touching tribute to the late women’s basketball coach, Pat Summitt, who had a profound influence on Parker’s life and career.
In a 2009 piece for Sports Illustrated, Candace reflected on Summitt’s impact, writing, “I sometimes did not understand her logic, but now that I am out in the real world, I see that there was a method to her madness. Everything she did was to make me a better individual.”
The couple first shared their exciting baby news back in December with a playful announcement.
The family photos captured Anna’s baby bump, with the couple standing on a basketball court, holding a onesie, and laughing joyously.
Lailaa, beaming with a basketball in her hands, stood beside them, watching as little Airr ran towards the camera.
“Parker starting 5 loading! Mama and Mommy are switching from man-2-man to zone defense this spring!” the caption cleverly read, drawing on basketball terminology to describe their growing family.
“After four years in the game we are focused on building our roster. We know this rookie will add to our depth chart and contribute versatility to our team.
