I saw #CancelDisneyPlus trending on Twitter and I thought folks had finally got fed up because aren’t giving us the option to binge the full season of “WandaVision.”
I was wrong.
Turns out folks are big mad because Gina Carano has been fired from “The Mandalorian” because of her history of problematic social media posts.
Apparently, the 38-year-old, who used to play Cara Dune, compared the Holocaust to being a republican.
Then, there was the time she seemingly mocked people who indicate their pronouns in their Twitter bios by adding “Beep/Bop/Boop” to her profile.
Gina explained the backlash writing:
They’re mad cuz I won’t put pronouns in my bio to show my support for trans lives. After months of harassing me in every way. I decided to put 3 VERY controversial words in my bio.. beep/bop/boop I’m not against trans lives at all. They need to find less abusive representation.
Peep the tweet:
A LucasFilm spokesperson confirmed Gina Carano got the boot and added her two cents about the social media posts:
Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.
Ooop!
Welp.
Gina has also been dropped by the UTA agency.
I’ve always felt social media should be a place where you can freely express your thoughts and feelings.
How-ever! You also have to understand sometimes there are consequences for your freedom of speech and expression especially when you’re attached to LucasFilms.
Your thoughts?
