It’s with a heavy heart that I report comedian and actor Johnny Brown, who is best known for his role as Nathan Bookman on “Good Times,” has passed away.
According to his daughter, Sharon Catherine Brown, Johnny visited his doctor’s office in Los Angeles for a routine appointment on Wednesday to get his pacemaker checked out.
Shortly after leaving the office, he went into cardiac arrest and collapsed.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed.
Sharon said:
Our family is devastated. Devastated. Devastated. Beyond Heartbroken. Barely able to breathe.
Johnny Brown was 84.
His “Good Times” co-star BernNadette Stanis took to social media to pay tribute to Johnny writing:
I am devastated to hear about my dear friend Johnny Brown who played Bookmen on our show Good Times.
I will miss all the stories about SammyDavis Jr. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and even John Wayne. His talent was beyond measure….
