Al B. Sure is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his beloved mother, Rev. Cassandra Mack-Brown, who transitioned to her heavenly home after a courageous battle with cancer.

The 90s R&B legend took to Instagram on Sunday to share the devastating news with his fans and supporters.

🕊️ My Beloved Mom Dukes, Rest In Power 💔

“I have no words to express this feeling adequately, or what my Mother meant to me at this particular moment, but wanted to say thank you all for showing her so much Love and Light in Abundance all throughout her battle with C***cer.

A very humble thank you to all Moms around the globe who are going through their own health crisis and the prayer warriors that held worship services, reached out with the love, prayers, and well wishes.

A special acknowledgment to Mom B!’s church saints that truly loved the Lord like She does, and to those of you who were a part of her VIP MomDukes.club.” 🙏🏽

In a follow-up post, Al B. Sure opened up about the immense pain of losing his mother and revealed that he received an unexpected phone call from a world leader offering condolences.

“Grand Rising Kings & Queens, sending all of the love and light in abundance I have left in my soul in return for the prayers and well wishes from around the world.

I thought being in a coma or on a ventilator was challenging—listen… that was easy work compared to what it feels like losing my mother, to cancer no less. #FKCancer 🤬

I received the most surprising call right at the crack of dawn from a world leader offering condolences 💐 (I’m just staring at the phone like, how in the *** did heck they get this #, or even hear of my mother’s passing when there’s an entire country to navigate?)

Nonetheless, I was honored to be awakened with such empathy and compassion, accompanied by a private message that will remain private between he & I.

The part I feel inspired to share is that he inquired if I had taken any photos with Mom Dukes holding her hand before she earned her wings. I said, “Yes sir, in fact I did—just last week when she was able to lift her arm and reached out to touch my hand to let me know everything will be okay, son!”

He said, “That will be one of the greatest visual memories of comfort, and a reminder of the special bond you had with her to treasure when the pain of missing her returns from time to time.

The pain won’t get any easier, but your mother was correct—life goes on. It’s what you do with it moving forward that will be your legacy.”

I just sat there looking at the phone like, you can’t be serious (in my head), and said, “Thank you kindly for the call, Sir. Now please get back to work before I get blamed for some war starting somewhere because you’re on the phone with me!”

He laughed and said, “God bless you, and God bless America,” and hung up. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’m going to the gym to continue working this out in my head.

Have a blessed day.

In Other Al B. Sure News…

Al B. Sure 'Do You Believe Me Now?' Book Cover

He also announced the upcoming release of his highly-anticipated memoir, Do You Believe Me Now?, set to drop on September 9, 2025.

In Do You Believe Me Now?, Grammy-nominated R&B legend Al B. Sure shares his powerful and deeply personal story of survival, betrayal, and truth.

This gripping memoir pulls back the curtain on the singer’s near-death health emergency, his complicated connection to Sean “Diddy” Combs, and his past romance with the late Kim Porter.

With raw honesty, Al B. reveals the chilling events leading up to his coma, the shocking allegations he raised long before federal investigations began, and the years he spent being gaslit and dismissed for speaking out.

From his rise as a pioneering New Jack Swing superstar to becoming the first platinum-selling artist at Uptown Records—where a young Diddy once interned—Al B. Sure has lived through both the spotlight and the shadows of the music industry.

Do You Believe Me Now? is more than a memoir—it’s a long-overdue reckoning, a survivor’s testimony, and a bold reclaiming of truth in the face of silence.

Will you be grabbing a copy of the book?

My sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to Al B. Sure and his family during this time of deep loss.

May Rev. Cassandra Mack-Brown rest peacefully.
