UPDATE: It’s with a heavy heart that I report Timesha Beauchamp, the young woman who was wrongly pronounced dead in August after a medical emergency, has died.

Timesha passed away on Sunday, October 18 and according to her family’s attorney, Geoffrey Fieger,  she died due to massive brain damage caused when Southfield paramedics declared her dead and did not provide her oxygen.

The family released the following statement:

Our whole family is devastated. This is the second time our beloved Timesha has been pronounced dead — but this time she isn’t coming back.

My sincerest condolences and prayers to the family.

Original Post (August 25, 2020):

20-year-old woman who was declared dead by paramedics and sent to the mortuary was found alive hours later.

The woman, whose name has been withheld, was found alive on Sunday at the James H. Cole Funeral Home and was taken to the hospital.

Paramedics responded to a home in the Detroit suburb of Southfield around 7:34 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a call about an unresponsive female.

Chief Johnny L. Menifee of the Southfield Fire Department said in a statement:

The paramedics performed CPR and other life-reviving methods for 30 minutes. Given medical readings and the condition of the patient, it was determined at that time that she did not have signs of life.

Because there were no signs of foul play, an on-duty forensic pathologist at the coroner’s office released the body to the woman’s family to make arrangements to have the body picked up by a funeral home of their choosing.

Staff at the James H. Cole Funeral home contacted the Detroit Fire Department after they took the woman to the funeral home and noticed she was alive.

The woman was taken to Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit.

Dave Fornell, deputy commissioner of the Detroit Fire Department, told ABC News:

I talked to our medical people and they said she was breathing, she had a decent heart rate, she had decent blood-oxygen. But she was definitely alive when we got here there.

Unbelievable.

*Update*

The young woman has been identified as Timesha Beauchamp and she is now on a ventilator in critical condition.

Please keep her uplifted in prayer.
