Not even one week into 2017, Yahoo Finance may have taken the biggest social media L of the year.
On Thursday night, YF sent a tweet out to their 718K followers that included a racial slur.
The tweet was a headline to their story about Donald Trump’s plans for a bigger navy. Unfortunately, the tweet read “N***er Navy.”
To add insult to injury, the tweet remained on their page for over 20 minutes! Someone over there finally got the memo and pulled the tweet down.
Yahoo Finance issued an apology for their “spelling error” 2 HOURS later…
We deleted an earlier tweet due to a spelling error. We apologize for the mistake.

The damage was already done! Yahoo Finance and #N***erNavy started trending as folks had a field day with their “spelling error.”
