Harlem’s famous tattoo parlor featured on the VH1 reality series, “Black Ink Crew,” has been accused of disfiguring a woman in a new lawsuit.
Asabi Barner traveled from South Carolina to Black Ink to have a massive chest tattoo done to cover up a horseshoe and unicorn tattoo she got when she was 18.
Barner, who is a fan of the show, said she wanted to have her tattoo done at Black Ink because they claim to be the best when it comes to tattooing on African American skin.
Unfortunately, a day after getting her “phenomenal” tattoo, Asabi says her left breast started to ooze with puss. She consulted a local tattoo artist, who informed her that her skin had been “overworked” in an attempt to bring out a white color on her tattoo.
A year later, Asabi Barner’s tattoo has keloids, it’s raised, burns, and itches daily. She says she has to place ice packs on it every day in order to get relief.
In the intimate moments, it creates a problem because you don’t have that confidence. I wasn’t overly confident before, but I felt good about myself.
Felt good about my body, but it just changes you.
Asabi consulted a plastic surgeon, who told her surgery would only make the scar worse at this point.
She’s suing Black Ink claiming the shop was reckless, negligent, and careless.
After doing a little research, Asabi Barner isn’t the only person unhappy with the work they’ve had done at Black Ink.
Attempts to reach Black Ink have failed and the shop was closed when news crews stopped by there for comment.
