Sandra Bland‘s family wants answers and so do we!
On July 9, Sandra left her home in Naperville, Illinois and headed to Texas to start a new job at her alma mater, Prairie View A&M University.
But, on July 10, Sandra Bland was stopped by police outside of the campus for allegedly failing to signal while changing lanes. During the stop, police claim Sandra became combative, so they threw her to the ground, arrested and charged her with “assault on a public servant.”
Video obtained by ABC 7 tells a different story. Two officers are seen on top of Bland, who can be heard telling them, “I can’t feel my arm! You just slammed my head into the ground. Do you not even care about that? I can’t even hear. Slammed me to the ground and everything!”
Malcom Jackson, who videotaped the entire encounter, said officers were forceful with Sandra throughout the entire traffic stop. Jackson said, “After he pulled her out of the car, he forced her and tossed her to the ground, knee to the neck, and arrested her.”
Sandra Bland was taken to Waller County Jail.
