Kevin Roper Charged With Manslaughter In Tracy Morgan Crash
Despite his attempt to have his criminal charges thrown out, a New Jersey grand jury charged Walmart driver Kevin Roper with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree aggravated assault charges.

Roper was driving a Wal-Mart truck in June 2014 when he crashed into Tracy Morgan’s limo on the New Jersey Turnpike, killing one man and severely injuring the comedian.
Roper’s indictment comes a week after a judge refused to throw out criminal charges after David Glassman, Roper’s attorney, claimed his client is unable to get a fair trial because of negative publicity surrounding Morgan’s federal lawsuit against Wal-Mart. Morgan settled with Wal-Mart this summer for an undisclosed amount.
According to a National Transportation Safety Board investigation, Roper had been awake for 28 hours when the crash occurred, and failed to slow down immediately before, findings disputed by his lawyer.
The truck could have avoided the collision with the Mercedes Benz limo van if Roper had obeyed the 45 mph speed limit and started braking earlier, the NTSB ruled.
