The WWE board of directors launched the investigation after they were tipped off about the affair in March by a friend of the mistress.

The email read in part:

My friend was so scared so she quit after Vince McMahon and (his lawyer Jerry McDevitt) paid her millions of dollars to shut up.

The woman was hired in 2019 as a WWE paralegal. She left in January 2022.

McDevitt told the Wall Street Journal that the woman’s relationship with Vince was consensual and that McMahon personally paid for the nondisclosure agreement with her.

The board also learned of multiple nondisclosure agreements Vince made with women who used to work at WWE to conceal misconduct on his part.

Some of the NDAs accuse Vince and John Laurinaitis, who used to wrestle under the ring name Johnny Ace, of misconduct.

Laurinaitis is now an executive with the company.

The details of those NDAs have not been disclosed and it’s unclear what consequences, if any, Vince will face once the investigation is complete.
