Jamie Foxx‘s rendition of the National Anthem before the Mayweather/Pacquaio fight was probably debated more than the fight itself.
Some people felt like Jamie did his thing by throwing an Usher Board Anniversary Sunday spin on the song, while others felt like he was embarrassing his play cousins around the world.
During a visit to the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actor and singer explained why his performance was a “little off.”
I sung the National Anthem. Now, some people were a little upset by how it went down.
Here’s the thing…first of all, anytime a black person sings the National Anthem, you know we gotta (begins to sing).
But, what did happen is my ears came out…my inner ears (earpieces).
My inner ears were out and I’m singing with an organ, so I can’t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd. So, some of it was a little off.
In the arena – it killed! In the telecast it was a little off.
Watch below as Jamie Foxx gives Ellen and her audience the scoop.
No worries, Jamie. No one’s perfect.
