Van Johnson of VH1’s hit reality series, “Black Ink Crew: Chicago,” did the tattoo for Kamaya, who joked that her mother was probably chastizing her from heaven.

In a post on her Instagram page, Kamaya wrote:

Shouts out to @vanjohnsonofficial for tatting my mama on me ?.. Lol I love it so much lol even tho I know she up there like “now why in the hell would you tat my face” ?? she hated portraits but I had to ??‍♀️? #LongLivePrecious ?

Don Brumfield‘s manager, Farrah, was instrumental in getting the tattoo done.

Farrah took to social media to share how the loss of her own mother inspired her to help Kamaya in her healing process.

Happy moment. There is usually a story behind anything I do. This hit so close to home for me with @kamayadaplug losing her mom @preciousharris1913 who the world grew to love. I lost my mom suddenly in 2012. It’s something I’m still dealing with and recovering from.

I wanted to help in any way with her healing process because I know how hard it can be. I asked Kamaya if this was something she would like to do and she was excited and thrilled for this moment. The whole time she was getting it I was hella emotional as if it was me.

Thank you so much @vanjohnsonofficial for coming thru for me and helping me to make this happen. You did an amazing job and I’m glad @kamayadaplug is happy!!! #LongLivePrecious
