Tyler Perry‘s Boo! A Madea Halloween scared off Jack Reacher: Never Go Back to claim the top spot at the box office with a whopping $27.6 million opening weekend.
In the film, Madea winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.
The no. 1 spot is pretty fantastic for a movie that was filmed in SIX days!
On Thursday, Tyler Perry took to his Facebook page to stress why it was so important for everyone to go out and support the film:
We all need a laugh right now. So much crap is going on in the media and everything. So, we just need a good laugh.
Also, it’s the funniest thing that I’ve done. Y’all are going to laugh all the way through. Old man Joe cuts loose. You’ve got Mama Hattie, Mama Bam, and Madea – the new Golden Girls doing their thing.
