“The Player” got played.
NBC has shaved off four episodes of their new series, “The Player,” bringing the season down from 13 episodes to nine.
The action-drama starring Wesley Snipes and Philip Winchester has been fighting an uphill battle on Thursday nights against football and baseball on CBS and ABC’s Shondaland arsenal.
Via Deadline:
NBC’s decision comes on the heels of The Player posting its first ratings uptick last night, rising a tenth in adults 18-49 from last week in Live+same day to a 0.8 in 18-49 (+4% in total viewers to 4.14 million).
Sony Pictures TV is currently filming episode nine. Once that is complete all production will come to a halt.
The show will continue to air in its Thursday 10 p.m. slot.
I was really rooting for Wesley and hoping this show would be his major comeback.
