TV SCOOP: FOX Announces Lee Daniels' New Atlanta-Based Music Drama 'Star'

Lee Daniels has the juice over at FOX.

On the heels of his record-breaking hit series, “Empire,” FOX has announced “Star,” another music-driven drama series from Daniels.

According to Deadline, the new series is “set against the backdrop of the music business, ‘Star‘ is set in Atlanta and centers on three girls who are coming together to form a band and their rise to the top.”

Fox’s Dana Walden gushed about the series saying, “The project features a lot of Lee’s own DNA and represents a new perspective, that of the artist. The setup lends to a great soap operatic storytelling machine.”

The pilot for “Star” is slated to begin shooting in September.
