Debra Messing Joins The Cast Of ABC’s “Dirty Dancing” Remake
My red-headed homegirl in my head Debra Messing has joined the cast of ABC’s “Dirty Dancing” remake as Baby’s mother, Marjorie Houseman.
Here’s the scoop via Entertainment Weekly:
Debra Messing has been fighting crime on The Mysteries of Laura for the past two years. But now EW has confirmed that she’ll be battling a young daughter who just really, really wants to boogie in ABC’s upcoming remake of the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing. Messing will play Marjorie Houseman, the mother of Baby (Scream Queens’ Abigail Breslin).
In the original, Marjorie mostly sits at a table and stares (she sort of does get put in a corner unlike Baby) so here’s hoping Messing gets a bit more to do in this remake.
Produced by Lionsgate Television, the new Dancing will be directed by Wayne Blair (The Sapphires) from a script by American Horror Story’s Jessica Scharzer.
I’m still on the fence about this remake, but I’ll keep an open mind about it.
