TLC has had their fair share of ups and downs in the music industry especially when it came to their finances. *cough Pebbles cough*

Now, T-Boz and Chilli are taking total control of their final album and they’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund it.

For those of you questioning why T-Boz and Chilli have chosen to go this route…here’s their response:

While major labels offer artists multimillion dollar recording and marketing budgets, they don’t often give artists complete control of their own music. It is ESSENTIAL that we create our final album completely on our own terms, without any restrictions, with YOU.

Plus, we are still singing. It’s what we love to do, so WHY NOT?!

We feel so blessed to have this opportunity to continue making music, and even more blessed that we get to do it with every single one of you.

The ladies are looking to raise $150,000 that will go directly to the recording costs of their final project.

Every penny we raise during this campaign will go towards MAKING this final album together with you! The initial goal of $150,000 will go towards a writing session in the studio with a producer and engineer. The money beyond that will go to booking music producers, writing sessions, mixing sessions, recording sessions, and SO much more.

There are also a few perks for fans who donate more than $5.

We will send ALL BACKERS who pledge $5 or MORE a list of tracks we want to remix. YOU will vote on your favorite, and the track with the most votes will be included on the album!!

T-Boz and Chilli are already lining up hit-making producers and songwriters for this project. They’ve even called out “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star and mogul Kandi Burruss to be a part of the album.

At the time of this post, TLC had already raised over $41,000 of their $150,000 goal.

Do you plan to donate to TLC’s Kickstarter campaign?

**UPDATE**

TLC’s fans ain’t no scrubs! They’ve donated over $125,000 in less than 48 hours to fund the group’s final album.

According to TMZ, Katy Perry dropped $5,000 in the bucket toward the cause.

Good for T-Boz and Chilli, who just announced they will going on tour with New Kids on the Block and Nelly in May.
