When Tisha Campbell-Martin released the official music video for her new single, “Steel Here,” many of us watched the video with excitement knowing she had finally returned to her first love…music.
Little did we know there was a deeper, empowering, and courageous meaning behind the visual directed by fashion photographer Viktorija Pashuta.
In one scene, Tisha sits in a mirrored room with the words, “Dear Beloved Tisha, this apology has been in my heart and on my mind for decades. For decades there has been a grieving pain within me coupled with an unending shame for my past behavior…” across her chest.
The words are from an apology letter she recently received from the man who raped her when she three-years-old.
In a post on social media, Tisha told her fans the letter blessed her and allowed her to forgive.
The “Steel Here” video represents her breakthrough, which makes it absolutely powerful.
