The fate of TikTok is hanging in the balance, but they’re not going out without a fight.

The Chinese-owned video app filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking a preliminary injunction to block Trump’s order to ban TikTok from U.S. app stores on September 27.

The lawsuit reads:

There is simply no genuine emergency here that would justify the government’s precipitous actions and there is no plausible reason to insist the prohibitions be enforced immediately.

Trump claims he has “national security” concerns about the app and he wants it shut down unless ownership is transferred to American buyers.

TikTok claims Trump is motivated “by political considerations relating to the upcoming general election.”
