The Upshaws” are coming back, baby!

Netflix has renewed the comedy series, co-created by Wanda Sykes and Regina Hicks, for a second season that is promising to be even bigger and better.

The Upshaws” follows Bennie Upshaw (Mike Epps), the head of a Black working-class family in Indianapolis, who is a charming, well-intentioned mechanic and lifelong mess just trying his best to step up and care for his family — wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Daniya-Renee SpragginsJourney Christine) and firstborn son (Jermelle Simon), the teenage son (Diamond Lyons) he fathered with another woman (Gabrielle Dennis) — and tolerate his sardonic sister-in-law (Wanda Sykes), all without a blueprint for success.

But the Upshaws are determined to make it work, and make it to the next level, together.

For the second season, Netflix is boosting the episode order up from 10 to 16 and will air the episodes in two batches of eight.

Regina Hicks gushed about the renewal saying:

We are so excited we get to bring this amazing show back for a second season and thankful that Netflix saw and felt all the love we got for this wonderful family. Looking forward to bringing more Upshaws’ joy to all who fell in love with them.

The cast of the show took to Instagram to celebrate with a dance session!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “The Upshaws.”
