Nintendo Levels Up With “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”

Mario is back, and this time, he’s headed to the stars! Nintendo and Universal dropped the first trailer for “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” during Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct livestream, and it’s packed with cosmic adventure, humor, and all the nostalgic magic Frens could ask for.

The trailer kicks off with Mario and Luigi taunting a pint-sized Bowser, who’s still paying the price for eating that Mini Mushroom at the end of the first movie.

In true Bowser fashion, he’s still obsessing over Peach, even painting a dramatic portrait of the two together, only to be hilariously shut down by Mario.

But when a sky full of shooting stars lights up the night, the Mushroom Kingdom crew, Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Toad, strap in for a galactic journey that takes them across wild new planets, from one made entirely of water to a desert world with upside-down pyramids straight out of Super Mario Odyssey.

Familiar Faces And New Power Players

Fans will be happy to know that the voice cast from the billion-dollar hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie is back.

Chris PrattAnya Taylor-JoyJack BlackKeegan-Michael Key, and Charlie Day all reprise their beloved roles.

Rosalina, on the other hand, shows off her cosmic magic by battling a massive spider-like robot solo. Queen behavior.

A New Era For The Super Mario Universe

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and written by Matthew Fogel“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” takes inspiration from the 2007 Wii classic, one of the most beloved Mario games ever made.

The original Super Mario Galaxy followed Mario’s interstellar mission to rescue Peach and collect Power Stars scattered across the universe.

After The Super Mario Bros. Movie raked in $1.3 billion globally, it’s safe to say this sequel has some big boots to fill.
