Tevin Biles-Thomas, who was facing three murder charges, was acquitted on Tuesday (June 15) by an Ohio judge during his retrial.

This case made national headlines because Tevin is the brother of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles

Tevin was arrested in 2019 on charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and perjury in connection with a fatal New Years Eve shooting in Cleveland.

Tevin Biles-Thomas has always maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

A mistrial was declared during his murder trial last month.

On Tuesday, during his retrial, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Joan Synenberg granted a Rule 29 motion for judgment of acquittal by the defense for lack of evidence, dismissing Biles-Thomas’ murder charges and acquitting him of voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault charges.

After Tevin’s case was dismissed, the grieving mother of one of the murder victims lashed out at him in the courtroom.
